NICOLA KERRIDGE

For the past seven years, Nicola has trained and practised with a number of respected international teachers including Simon Low, John Scott and Dena Kinsberg, as well as participating in workshops with A.G Mohan, Donna Farhi, Michael Gannon, Radha, Lino Miele, Danny Paradise and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

At the same time, she has explored the practice of meditation in its different forms.  Nicola is currently training with the Yoga Academy (BWY and Yoga Alliance accredited).

Nicola reveals:  ‘I finally surrendered to Yoga during a time of extreme personal crisis in the year 2000.  It was a practice that had called to me for many years, yet was something I had always resisted. It became be my saviour, providing a solid foundation on which I could find my feet once again. Yoga was pivotal in helping me to create the transformation my life so desperately needed at that time. Feeling indebted and so inspired by the practice of Yoga, it seemed the natural progression was to dedicate myself to its study and train to be a teacher.

Yoga gives me both the feeling of openness in my heart and body and bestows me with a lightness to my being. I feel it perfectly supports my love of nature and complements my interest in all forms of healing, body and energy work, spiritual practice, and general health and well-being.

It is a dear friend I would not be without.

In 2006 I was blessed by the arrival of my first baby.  Yoga, I feel certain, enabled me to have the drug-free gentle home birth I wanted.  And now, as a mother, Yoga provides me with the vital energy and the nurturing that we all need. My time on the mat both relaxes and rejuvenates me and allows me to reconnect with many parts of my self that are me and not only Mum. Yoga soothes my tired bones and refreshes my weary mind. After practice I feel inspired to freely give again and rejoice in my new role in life as a mother.  I trust that my teaching is infused with my enthusiasm for Yoga, and that my love for this remarkable discipline shines through.

In my classes, I seek to offer students tools to overcome whatever physical, emotional and psychological difficulties they may have.  I actively encourage students to listen inside to the “voice” of the body, cultivating a search for the teacher within.  I feel I am a teacher who accompanies my students on the path toward discovery of our own individual true nature…’
