SHIRLEY LEARTHART
Shirley is a Registered Nurse with 10 years’ experience working in the Critical Care unit at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings. In August 2000, an article of Shirley’s was published in the Nursing Standard, entitled Health Effects of Internal Rotation Shiftwork. It was while writing this article that Shirley became very interested in the preventative aspects of health care. Further research led to many studies showing how annual health checks can very significantly reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and generally optimise lon-term health.
With a friendly, welcoming approach, Shirley will ensure that you feel as relaxed as possible while you are undergoing these important but routine health checks. Once the results of your tests are received, Shirley will carefully explain what they all mean, and offer advice or recommendations for how you can improve on any test results that may point to areas of concern.
In many cases, simple lifestyle changes will be all that’s needed to return you to the ‘normal’ range of test results. (If there are any areas of real concern, Shirley will refer you to your GP.) Of course, Vital Signs also offers the advantage of being able to easily monitor your health status – for instance, glucose or blood pressure levels – on an ongoing basis; tests are available individually at very reasonable rates.
These important tests are available individually from doctors – but due to the huge pressure GPs are under, this often means a lengthy waiting time, both for an appointment and for results. And until now, the only opportunity individuals have had to have them all at once in a full health ‘MOT’ is through an expensive private health scheme. Vital Signs is a truly affordable option, at just £85 for twelve different tests. Can you afford, in fact, not to know your health status
