AROMATHERAPY
Herbal oils have been used for millennia to treat illness and promote wellbeing and beauty, from the Far East to Egypt, combining the medicinal properties acknowledged to exist in plants with the traditional of healing massage with oil. Modern Aromatherapy practice is largely based on research by doctors in France, where essential oils are even prescribed as alternatives to conditional medicine.
The essential oils used in Aromatherapy are distilled from the flowers, leaves and stalks of plants, as well as from some trees. Understanding the effects of these elements is a vital part of an aromatherapist’s training; through that understanding, each treatment can be entirely customised to your physical and emotional needs.
In theory, essential oils are absorbed into the body either through the pores of the skin, during massage, or breathed through the nose. Molecules within the oils are said to enter through the bloodstream into the central nervous system, powerfully influencing emotional and physical wellbeing. Aromatherapy can be helpful for stress-related conditions such as insomnia and headaches, for eczema and acne, digestive disorders, asthma, colds, cystitis and menstrual problems.

NB An Aromatherapy massage can be a deeply relaxing, calming and rebalancing experience. However, specific blends of oils can be tailored to invigorate and revive flagging spirits. Your aromatherapist will ask you how you want to feel, at the end of a massage, and customise a blend of oils specifically for you. In some cases, you can feel so deeply relaxed that we suggest that after your treatment, you may like to sit for a while in our reception area, certainly before driving home.
