POSTURAL THERAPY
Most muscular and nerve related pain is due to postural problems. By adulthood most people have developed some postural bad habits through repetitive activities or through mental/emotional influences on the body, and as the body passes its physical peak, an area of weakness in the back or a stiffness in a certain joint may become a regular occurrence.
People whose jobs lead to repetitive postures, those under mental stress often carry the load in their neck and shoulders and those whose work and leisure activities involve a high level of muscular output may retain pain and stiffness in the muscles, and people with disabilities and those who have needed long term bed rest are likely to have impaired circulation and muscle tone.
A postural therapist will assess your alignment, the sources of any pain, and work out a personalised management programme. This may include Deep Tissue Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, instruction of specific exercise techniques, and possibly advice on appropriate lifestyle changes.
