SCARAVELLI YOGA

Scaravelli Yoga is based on the teaching of Vanda Scaravelli, an inspirational yoga teacher who originally trained with BKS Iyengar. She developed her own unique way of working, concentrating on building inner strength through focus on the breath and contact with gravity. While observing the breath, the work deepens, and the muscles soften and lengthen Using gravity and weight gives a secure base from which to move into the postures. If we do not push and pull the body to extremes, something new emerges, something more intuitive, something we may have missed all along.

In her book ‘Awakening the Spine’, Vanda Scaravelli says: ‘Yoga should not be a training for body control: on the contrary, it must bring freedom to the body, all the freedom it needs.’
